A shabby page for Papirdesign and Sizzix.

For this page I managed to combine assignments for two DT's and I just love that! Mostly when you are on DT's you receive a lot of beautiful supplies and 'crossfertilization' benefits both parts as there will inevitably be a larger audience for both. On the occations that I manage to do that I feel quite content! :-)

I started out with two sheets of pretty paper from Papirdesign.
Here are some shots of how I made the background:

Here is a step by step description:

1. I started by prepping my background with gesso and then modeling paste.
2. When dry I sprayed with two different colours of mist.
3. I cut and distressed strips of papers and arranged them on my page. I then stitched them in place.
4. I used the Frameworks die to cut three pieces from corrugated cardboard that I painted with gesso.
5. I I cut and assembled some Tattered florals and Tattered leaves.
6. I die cut  my photo with the ovals die set and also some white Bazzil to back it.
7. I arranged and glued down all my elements and added the title.

Without being biased I believe the Sizzix Bigz dies are the most versatile dies on the market.
They will actually cut almost anything and are such a joy to work with.
Today I upcycled an old cardboardbox that I received some scrapbook supplies in.
The Bigz die cut through it 'like butter'. And I was left with a beautiful piece that looks like thick chipboard (for free....! ).

When talking about favourite supplies,... Have you tried the Prima Color Bloom sprays yet?
They are by far my favourites. With all my other mists I always have to start by declogging  them. These will work at the first attempt.
I have got a few colours but will definitely be stocking up on some more !

I used one of the Susan's Garden tools to scratch a pattern into the leaves to make them more dimensional.

And then just one more close up :

Thanks for dropping by!

'Sisters' using Scraps of Elegance July kit.

Time to share another one of my pages for Scraps of Elegance with the July kit.
This kit is called 'Chasing Rabbits' and among other things it has papers from Marion Smith Designs (that I use here) and Webster's Pages. Flowers are from Prima, Petaloo, etc.
Apart from these items there are lots of other goodies as well!

I used many of the items in the kit as they are. But for example with the Kaiserkraft stickers I decided to cut pieces off and tuck them in here and there to fill up my clusters. There were some Prima flowers ( Something Blue collection, Save the Date flowers) in the kit that had banners with a word on and I decided to use only the banner on this page and save the flowers for later.

The little clock you see tucked in between the flowers is from the sticker sheet. I also used some naural twine to soften up the flower clusters and add a little more dimension.

As on many of my other pages I used the Tattered Florals die by Sizzix to make some flowers from matching papers in the collection. I love that look! That die is just so versatile!
If you look for tutorials you'll se SOOO many different styles created with just this die!

The double butterfly was made with one of the new dies from the Flora Grande collection.
This is a collaboration between Sizzix  and Prima Marketing.
The butterflies are called Winged Beauties and come with four dies in the set. They are really very dainty and pretty and I love that each is just a little bit different apart from the different sizes.

As you can see the kit and add ons offer great value for money, but they sell out really fast so if you would like one I recommend that you sign up before the next one is revealed.

That's all from me today. Thanks for taking the time to visit!
xx

Did you see the lovely new flowers from Papirdesign yet?

Aren't these gorgeous?
As you may know the Norwegian manufacturer Papirdesign has a very extensive collection of mullberry flowers in many pretty colours..

....and NOW the collection just became HUGE!

Line has added 75 new choises for us as if it wasn't difficult enough to choose already :-D

Here are some close ups of some of my faves:

I received a large variety of these in the mail the other day and I can't wait to start using them.
I will be back soon with a project to showcase some of them!

'Fabulous' for Scraps of Elegance with July kit.

Are you ready for another page with the July kit from Scraps of Elegance?
(If you scroll down two posts you can see the kit and everything in it.)

As always Melinda managed to find the perfect ingredients for making many lovely pages.
All the supplies are so easily matched.

I am actually quite happy with this page, I am just not happy with how it photographed.
I tried several times but the gesso will stand out too much and disturb the balance of the layout.
Well, nothing to be done about that....

This is quite a nice shot of my eldest.
She recently came home from spending a year at Cornell university  in the US and was actually invited to China for a few days just to sing at an event there.
No doubt in her mind about going, although it was coinciding with exams.
She talked to her teachers and the trip was arranged.
She was very well received and really enjoyed being star for a day!
She was repeatedly told she was the most important person there and had three people
constantly at her beck and call. This shot was taken around midnight when she arrived back in her room  after a long day that started already at 8 o'clock in the morning.

I just adore thes gorgeous large flowers. Both the teal and the pink one are from Petaloo.

The kit also contains some wooden embellishments from Prima Marketing and some cool word/title stickers from Heidi Swapp. The pink wing is made with one of the new dies from Sizzix/Prima.These dies are part of the Flora Grande collection. You can look up all the Flora Grande dies HERE!

I cut out the heart shape and layered it on a slightly larger heart that I cut with scalloped scissors.
I backed it with some cheese cloth.

That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed my page and please check out the kits at Scraps of Elegance if you are on the lookout for something really special!

Scraps of Elegance July kit 'Chasing Rabbits'. First page.

Hi there !
I'm so happy you came over to check out the reveal of my first page made with the July kit from Scraps of Elegance. Melinda always gives us such great kits to work with and as you can see this is no exception! :-)

Here is what I made:

I startede by using some of the Marion Smith Design papers in the kit because I have admired
their design for some time and not been able to get my hands on them.
I must say they are really gorgeous up close and IRL!!

But lets start at the beginning and not get ahead of ourselves! Here is the main kit:

The Mad Hatter: "Have I gone mad?"
Alice: "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are"
We were certainly mad about Marion Smith Designs' Mad Tea Party collection, and just knew it would be perfect in one of our kits! We hope you will love it as much as we do...

 Included in this month's kit:

Patterned Paper
  • Marion Smith Designs: Mad Tea Party Collection:  Tea Party, Rabbit Hole, Wonderland, Roses Are Red, Spot of Tea, Cut n Create Ephemera,
  • Webster's Pages: Party Time Collection: Sweets Table, This Special Moment
  • Kaisercraft: Telegraph Road Collection:  Memo, Parcel

Embellishments/Other Kit Components
Prima: Something Blue Collection - Save The Date Flowers
Kaisercraft: Storyteller Collection - 12x12 Cardstock Stickers

Heidi Swapp: Color Magic Cardstock Watercolor Tags  - Hearts
Marion Smith Designs: Junque & Gems - Mixed Flowers (resin)
My Mind's Eye: Now and Then Dorothy Journal Stickers
May Arts - Red with polka dots sheer Ribbon - 1 yard
Digital Sketch by Suepup, created for inspiration with our Chasing Rabbits Kit, emailed to you.

There are a large number of add ons too to expand this kit to last you the entire month!
Now for some closeups of my page:

Yup,...I still love me some banners and these were cut from the patterned paper to match exactly. I love the layered effect of the flags and the flowers.

You will probably recognize these handmade flowers from many of my projects (all?) lately .
I make them with the Sizzix Bigz die Tattered Florals and they are just the best!!

I love this picture of DD we took at the beach a couple of weeks ago.
A rather chilly day, but the light was gorgeous that evening!

That large velvety flower is by Prima and it's from the flower add on.

Well that was all for now at this  (for me) late hour. It's past midnight and time for bed.
Who knows;...If I am lucky I will find a friendly comment or two here tomorrow when I wake up... Take care! :-)

Happy News!

Hi, Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I said I'd received 'happy mail'... ?
Well this is it!
I have been invited to the Lemoncraft Design Team. If you are not familiar with Anna Zaprzelska's company you should definitely check it out because she has the most enchanting collections and embellishments.
I am really looking forward to getting more familiar with her products!

I am on the team together with these awesomer ladies, and I say CONGRATULATIONS to all:

I am also delighted to say that you'll be able to enjoy the work of some amazing guest designers from now on. Among these are my friends Eila and Ulrika! You will  love their work for sure!!
In my humble opinion the Polish scrappers are among the very best at the moment and I shall be
delighted to pick up a trick or two. I find they are excellent in all fields of scrapbooking from cards, to layouts , and certainly excellent as far as mixed media art goes.

Just sas an example of the Lemoncraft style here is a picture of the latest collection:

I am really looking forward to my term on Lemoncraft!
Thanks Anna for picking me for your 'Dream Team'
And as she says, 'Remember you are beautiful when you smile' :-D
(I have certainly got a big grin going right across my face at the moment!)

Hugs!!

A flowery shabby page for Scraps of Elegance kits using 7 Dots Studio.

Did you see the gorgeous June kit from Scraps of Elegance?
It's called 'Timeless' and is so full of beautiful papers and embellishments from some awesome brands.
You can see a photo of the kit a couple of posts down.

Here is one of the pages I made:

I used Nature Walk from 7 Dots Studio for this page and really had a lot of fun making it! And I also shared this page on the Sizzix UK blog for my weekly Sunday post. It uses some great dies too!

I enjoyed very much the process of adding bits and pieces continously and had I not decided enough is enough, I might be adding to it still......

I love how all these colours look together.
The background teal colour was achieved mixing two different mists with gesso.

I used my trusted Tattered Florals Bigz die for the pink handmade flowers and also the Frameworks Trellis dies. Lots of mixed media goodness on this page and let me tell you I had sooo much fun creating it. The little dots are made with Rangers Liquid pearls colour Bisque.

That's all for now!1 I hope you liked my latest page. Hopefully you saw something that will inspire you to try something new on your next page!

Hugs!
