March 1st challenge at Once Upon A...Sketch. Meet our guest designers.

March 1st Challenge + Meet our Guest Designer **Iris Babao Uy**

Well hello everyone! How are you all going? I hope you all enjoyed the switch up with Get Creative last month as much as we did. Thank you all for embracing the concept and our new sister blog and I am so happy to see that many of you played along with both challenges. We are back to normal this month, and this is actually our 12th month that we are posting challenges and next month it will be our one year anniversary. Unfortunately this is the last month for some Design Team members who will end their term here at the end of this month, but we will talk about all that plus some new changes on April 1st!

For the time being a new month is upon us which brings a new challenge for the next 2 weeks.

The current challenge is one that will push you out of your comfort zone because you have to scrap a layout or create a project about YOU. Many MANY people find this daunting...I can understand that. I personally do not have a problem scrapping my self as I want my children and those I leave behind one day to know the real Nadia. But I was SO SO SO surprised to learn that my Design Team really struggled with this. This saddened me...it saddened me as I see SO many wonderful qualities in all of them, yet it astounds me how hard us women are on our selves. We truly are. I think one thing we are ALL good at for certain, is just being WOMEN in this day and age!!

SO I am particularly keen to see you all find something that you are good at, as little or as big as that might be and be confident enough to share it with us here. I cannot wait to see your entries!! Come on ladies..its time we believed in our selves and put our selves first just this one time..!

March 1st Challenge

Journalling Criteria/Theme:
All About Me!

The focus of your journalling and the theme of your layout has to be based on YOU and something/s that you are really good at. Don't be shy! We are all good at something as small or as big as it might be.

Ideas for journallingbeing a good mum, cooking, talking, understanding people, organising, cleaning, gardening, studying, computers, fashion, exercising, scrapbooking, good at my job, maths, languages, writing , drawing, painting, photography, running, craft, sewing. Maybe you can talk about an aspect of your personality..your sensitivity, your 6th sense, your patience, your strength or bravery, your ability to stay positive.

Remember that you are allowed to also create a card or altered project based on this sketch and theme and instead of the journalling criteria you need to use a quote.

You MUST combine our journalling criteria with this sketch..

We have two wonderful guest designers this month.

Iris Babao Uy has made this gorgeous page for us:

And Cathy Cafun who won the previous challenge made this stunning  page:

I recommend you visit the Once Upon A...Sketch blog to have a look at all the ten lovely pages made by the wonderful design team mambers.
As always the work is outstanding!!

Thanks for dropping by!!

"Your Smile Brightens my Day" Les papiers de Pandore, -"Cherry Chérie"

This is my first layout using the more clean/simple line of the two new releases from Las Papiers de Pandore. It is called "Cherry Chérie" and is very versatile. It is a perfect line to scrap the hopefully many beautiful spring/easter pictures we will have soon.

This collection has crisp clean lines and dots combined with script, clouds, bricks and lovely flowers to fussy cut. So yummy!

I used my trusted sewing machine and different border punches for this. I did not forget the fanfold flowers either,...lol!

I cut out the small aqua coloured letters from the elements sheet in the collection and that's where I got the ticket strip, too.

I fussy cut the springlike flowers and added a button with some twine to the centers.

That's all I have prepared for you today in this pre-scheduled post.
I hope you can read it all ok!

Thank you so much for taking the time to come and check out my ramblings!
I'll be back soon!

She's Growing up. -Mixing up the two new collections from Les Papiers de Pandore.

Hopefully this will work and Blogger will behave well and let me preschedule this post!
I am away for a few days visiting my eldest in the UK.
I am keeping my fingers crossed.... :-)

Lately I have had a lot of fun playing with all the new supplies that sweet Julie sent me from
Les Papiers de Pandore. This time I made a layout combining the two;

"Le Parfume de Camélias" and "Cherry Chérie"

It was snowing as I took my lo outside to photograph it. You can actually see  some tiny snowflakes on the brown brick-paper, that had not yet melted,...lol!

The little gate in the lower right hand corner is from Polish manufacturer Scrapiniec.
They come in white and I only inked a little on this one.

I quite like this picture of my little princess.
It's one of the photos from the photoshoot with the sweet and lovely Gisela Ackerup.

Hope your day is a good one!

"Authentique" "Uncommon" - "Remember you are special"

A while back I oredered three different collections made by Authentique Paper from
the online store Stop and Scrap which only happen to be my very favourite spot to shop for scrappy supplies!!
I will just give you the tip that if you want to shop there do use the code on my sidebar PAPERGLUE to get 12% off your order  which normally will be more than you get from the newsletter they send out. Just  a tip....

Now for my layout, I actually have several to share but am waiting to get better photos of them.

I did quite a bit of fussy cutting here. Those roses are so pretty.  I made a fan fold rosette from the striped paper, I love watching the effect made by the stripes on the rosettes.

As you know by now I am in love with "Imaginarium Designs" chipboard .
They have a beautiful selection of shapes and sizes for all kinds of projects. The 'tinies' are great for cards or as an accent, and the larger pieces make for great focal points on a layout.
Here I have used the flourish and the small frame that accentuates my quote.

The letters for the title are by Prima Marketing and are textile covered.
They are my go to letter stickers at the moment.
The fence-chipboard is by the Polish manufacturer Scrapinec.

I cut out the large round background and glued it to my base after distressing it.
To stress the feminine nature of the layout I added some lace all around the edge.
The lace was made by "October Afternoon".

I painted the flourish with some dimensional paint or snow paint.
I pressed the little frame onto my white stamp pad to colour it and I like the effect I got.

These are the chipboard pieces I have been using from ID:

 Code:IDFL0011
I like to cut this swirl in two and use  just half of it.

Code:IDT0002
The tiny frames will add interest to any scrapbook project!!

Ok enough from me.
Thanks for dropping by. (Any comments you feel like leaving are very welcome.)

Keep safe!

Some "Authentique" card inspiration and a feature at "Imaginarium Designs!"

I have edited this post with better photos of the badly lit cards.

I was so happy a couple of days ago to see that one of my layouts had been chosen as a feature over at the Imaginarium Designs Ning site. That is so cool!!
Thank you so much to those who picked me.
I am so lucky to be working with the best chipboard around!!

Here you can see who else was featured too:

Yesterday I went to lunch with one of my daughters and my MIL.
We went to a lovely place by the sea.

One of my MIL's helpful and friendly neighbours recently had his 60th birthday and  I said I would make some cards for her to choose between ( and to keep the rest of course...)

As it is rather late in the afternoon I could only get some crappy shots, and the colours are not good either,...but still...  -If she has not picked up the cards by tomorrow I will most certainly take some new photos and replace these.

I used the blue collection from "Authentique Paper" called "Journey"

I love the chevron pattern on this paper.
For three cards I only used just one sheet of paper and some of my scraps.
A very economical way to creat  cards!
Take care un til next time!

Get Creative - Once Upon A...Sketch mix it up for the second time! New "Les Papiers de Pandore"

Hi friends!
How are you? -Ready for a new challenge yet?

Today the second half of the designers at OUAS get a chance to play along at Get Creative
the awesome Greek challenge blog and brainchild of Irini Liolia !

This is the beautiful sketch created by the talented Elina.
Normally if you joined in one of the challenges over at OUAS we'd have a journaling prompt for you.
Get Creative doesn't have taht but hey,...why not keep up the good work? I have gotten so used to doing journaling now, so this time I put plenty,- on the back of my layout.

This is the layout I made. I tried to keep faithful to the sketch, but will admit to having executed a bit of artistic freedom,...lol.
I used the gorgeous new collection from "Les Papiers de Pandore" for this.
It's called 'Perfume de Camélias' and as you can see (and as I have said many times already,...)
it is beautiful!!

To create the 'brick' background I used the Crafter's Companion 12x12 mask. It is just great to work with, but it does feel like it 'swallowing half a bottle of mist every time I use it!
It is great to use with paints too, by the way.
After spraying the mist and letting it dry, I traced the bricks with a pencil, and then painted with gesso in between each brick. I find that creates the impression of mortar.

I embellished mostly with Prima blooms and some others from my stash. I used two different punches from Martha Stewart to make up  the large cross element in the sketch. I added some lace to to soften it up.

Lately I seem to have a fanfold flower on most of my los...

.... -And a banner,too...lol!

To create a space for my title I cut off a piece of corrugated cardboard from a box laying around as evidence of  a recent shopping spree. I painted this too, with gesso and inked the edges.
A gorgeous piece of lace then serves as a mat for some of my favourite alphas at the moment.
These are also from Prima Marketing.

The pretty little chipboard butterfly in th lower left corner is by Imaginarium Designs.
You can find it HERE.
They have some gorgeous product.  And they have started a new Ning site too.

I had another welcome surprise these last few days, too.

Sweet  Laurence  from France decided she wanted to award me this:

It was such a sweet and unexpected pleasure.

The award is for blogs that have less than 200 followers  and the giver thinks that maybe they deserve to have more,.... :-) Thank you so much Laurence.

Now I have to decide who I want to give it to. There are so many great blogs around.
I will be back with that news soon!

I hope I have not forgotten anything.
I am writing this I between running the kids to all the different activities.

I hope you have a lovely evening and a sweet Valentines Day, even if you are not celebrating with that special someone.
My hubby went to China last Friday and will not be back for another couple of weeks.
But I am enjoying having at least two of my girls at home with me!

Le Parfum de Camélias "Mots Doux" New Les Papiers de Pandore.

This evening I will share the first of the pages I have made using the new collections from Les Papiers de Pandore. I started with "Le Parfums de Camélias"

As we are nearing Valentines Day it is quite appropriate to use a photo of my eldest brother and his wife.. I snapped a few shots of them last time I went to Norway to visit with my family.

Here are also the usual close ups:

I am running back and forth between computer and kitchen (running very late with dinner ;..lol , as we always have so many activities to run to ,..today 2 X violin and 1 X Youth Club..)

So I do not feel the need for so many words today.
I think the close ups speak for themselves. You will absolutely see that this collection is gorgeous and so lovely to work with.
Sometimes I get nervous I will not do it justice,...lol!"

I think the feather adds a sweet softness to all those flowers.

I also love the big clock that says Paris and comes on the cut out sheet.

Thanks for dropping by and for any comments you may leave me.
I love reading them!!

TWO new collections from Les Papiers de Pandore. Terribly beautiful!!!

And I mean really, really, terribly beautiful!

Instead of doing one collection per release like she has done in the past,
Julie Blanc of "Les Papiers de Pandore" has done a whale of a job and produced no less than TWO absolutely stunning collections.

(And I am lucky enough to have been creating with them already!!!)

Today I will give you a peak at the two collections.

The first one is called "Cherry Chérie" (isn't that darling...?)

Don't you just love the freshness of this? I think it is a collection that works very well for boys but can be equally lovely for creating pages about girls. Look at that paper with the cute clouds , or the lovely soft flowers,...or the brick wall.....or..or....

These are the stamps that come with the collection.
You can buy them on one larger sheet instead of several small ones.
I can see many great uses for these.
Happy I already have them in my stash,...lol!

And all this goodness is only half of it....

The second collection is called "Le Parfum des Camélias".

Just say the name out loud,...it is so so romantic and a perfect name for this feminine shabby chic collection with revishing overtones of pink, purple, lilac and green.
I just love that one,too!!.....I think you can tell lol :-)

There are plenty of cute designs like butterflies and flowers to be fussy cut and used on your projects.
And both collections have a large sheet of cut-outs to match.

I particularily love the butterfly stamp in two sizes and the nifty set to make your own banner.

This is such a sweet layout with Julie's little girl.
If you love these collections it might interest  you to know that there is a candy on the blog.
If you post about the releases on your own blog and check back at the Pandore blog with a comment on each post there, you may be eligible to win. Good luck!!

Julie has decided that some of the revenue from these collections will be donated to the organization Doctors Without Borders.

Tomorrow I will have more to share. I will at least show you the first of my pages I made with 'Camelias'. My second page still lacks a title,....

This is where you go for the candy

Enjoy the rest of your evening!

Lovely Valentines inspiration at Color Combos Galore #217. "Authentique" Uncommon

Valentines Day is quickly approaching and maybe you want to make a sweet project for a special someone...
At Color Combos Galore this week we have the perfect combo for you to apply to such a project. Check this out:

Pretty isn't it?

For the designers  challenge I decided to focus on my gorgeous first born who is now away in the UK at university. Of course we miss her lots and worry about her, but with all the wonderful qualities she has I trust she will be fine. In March she is coming home for a break again, and we can't wait.
Actually, I hope we will be able to go and visit her before then...

I used the Collection "Uncommon" by "Authentique" and had a lot of fun cutting out all the roses from one of the patterned papers. They are so feminine and I just love the pretty colours!

The large photo corners that  have painted with dimentional paint are by Imaginarium Designs and they have a similar one that  looks like this before it's  painted.

I also have some close ups to share:

From the challenge board I was inspired to use a heart punch for my border and also to look for letter stickers that were similar to those in the photograph. I punched a border on the white Bazzil paper to mimic the wavy plate in the picture, too.

I hope I have inspired you to try this challenge.
Thanks for dropping by!!
