Color Combos Galore 190. "Nikki Sivils" "It's Raining it's Pouring"

At Color Combos Galore we are playing with the cute papers from "Nikki Sivils" again this week.
She has been sponsoring the site this month and this is the second week that we in the DT make a layout using the line "It's Raining It's Pouring" that she so generously has given us.
Thank you so much Nikki!

This is the layout that I created with this weeks combo.

And here is the Combo 190 that you should use for your entries this week.

The inspiration photo with the three children is very pretty and the added challenge this week is to scrap about siblings or/and pets.
I am sure the gallery will be overflowing with beautiful creations this coming week!!...lol! I can't wait to see what stunners you will upload in the next few days!

This would not be my blog should I not post a lot of close ups.... :-)...right...?
Actually, my layout this week was pretty straight forward, and did not have many 'special features' to accentuate. I used a lot of my Nikki papers last time so I had to think about this one a little.
I decided to stretch the collection with some DCWV cardstock in the right olive tone.

I used the cardstock mainly to create a sun shape. I added some pleated Maya Road ribbon from            Your Scrapbook Stash around the edge of my sun to get the impression of little sun rays.
The cute little cloud is cut from the elements sheet in Nikki's collection and so was the little sentiment.

I made a rosette flower, I seem to be very fond of those at the moment. i think it is because I finally found out that I have to make the pleats really narrow for it to work. Previously they always turned out very 'high'. I did not like that, as I have so many other things that will normally add bulk to my pages.
Even the little banner was made with the NS collection papers. It was held together with twine. The blue strips underneath the photos are from the Nikki Sivils element sheet, too.

My journaling is about my youngest DD Beatrice and our kitten Lady ( popular in my photos, she is sooo cute!!)
They love each other those two ,...that's for sure!
I added quite a bit of precious lace to this layout to make it soft and sweet to frame my two little darlings.

I am photographing this in the grass outside.Isn't that fantastic...?
Finally Spring is definitely here and Winter has withdrawn at last. Thank God for that!

Thanks for visiting me!

Flower girl / New "Fancy Pants" "It's The Little Things"

This kit seems to last forever. I have made numerous layouts it seems with this new collection from "Fancy Pants" "It's The Little Things".  Erica  at Your Scrapbook Stash sent it to me to work with this month.
In addition to the FP papers I used embossed cardstock from Coredinations.Very pretty.

Normally Erica at YSS sends us a box well filled with both papers and beautiful embellishments, so I think some of us were a bit surprised to find nearly all patterned paper and just some letter stickers to use for embellishment. The added challenge this month was for us to create our own embellishments from paper.
Although I do love my premade embellies, I tend to make quite a few of my design elements myself so I don't really mind so much!

The butterfly is made with a page from a Maya Road mini chipboard album. I traced around the butterfly to get the right shape of  paper to cover the chipboard. I inked and traced around the butterfly's edge to add dimension. On top I added some hand cut and inked leaves and a rosette-flower with a button.

Up in the left hand corner I use a white Prima flower and one that I made with my giant retro flower punch. I made another small flower to act as flower center. And again leaves cut from the Coredinations cardstock.

I used Martha Stewart punches and inked all the edges in black. I used a lot of distressing and paper bending, too.

Here you can see a close up of the chipboard butterfly. Pretty sweet I think and so easy!

Right now you can find several Maya Road albums on sale with discounts up to 50% ! This Monday LOTS of new stuff were marked down and there are a lot of bargains to be had!!

The new collection  from "October Afternoon", called "Rocket Age" just arrived!

The code APRIL20 will earn you a 20% off your entire order! (Go now!...I know you want to...lol..)
Make sure you don't miss out!

I actually loved the look of that little butterfly and will definitely do something similar again soon.
(Afterall I still have many more pages from that same chipboard album....)
One of those butterflies would make a great card topper too....
(Note to self...Hold hat thought...) !

This weeks combination at Color Combos Galore is a dream in shimmery softness. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to complete it due to family obligations at the last moment. But I definitely think you should pay CCG a visit to see the gorgeous creations shared by the talented design team and fabulous members!!

Beautiful isn't it? Cant't wait to see what you will create with it!!

Thanks for taking the time to drop by. You know I really appreciate it!!

My Beautiful Summer Girl New "Fancy Pants" "It's The Little Things".

Today I would like to share one more page that I made with the DT-kit I received from Your Scrapbook Stash. This is my eldest daughter Alexandra, and the photo was taken last Summer in the South of France.
My girls really like to dress in a pretty and individual way, and in Provence you can find a lot of things that are different from what is sold here at the top of Europe. Last year all three of them bought lovely hand made straw hats. Very pretty!

The papers here are from "Fancy Pants" new collection "It's The  Little Things" and they are really cute. They are in sort of vintagey colours combined with black. The collection lends itself to lots of different kind of layouts.
I even used a neutral black sheet of cardstock as my base. I painted all around the edge with acrylic paint.
And the red embossed cardstock is from Coredinations.
The flowers are hand made from two layers of lace and held together by a beautiful vintage button.

I have discovered that I have a love for paper pleating. I like it to look a little rough and unplanned, and I think it adds a lot to the design. It is so easy to do. I don't even measure the distance between pleats or anything. I just do my pleats as I go along!

The ticket strip is from the the back of one of the patterned papers in the collection. You get a whole lot of tickets, and I even used some previously on my "Mature" layout a couple of posts down.

This is the other hand made flower I made with two layers of lace.It really is so fun and easy to make your own flowers. Some models I have seen look very beautiful, but seem very difficult to make. -Or maybe it all boils down to me being a bit impatient...LOL!

Just a little side-view. This layout is not particularily bumpy, but still has a lot of layers! This one has at most seven layers all together.

I leave you with wishes of a continued HAPPY EASTER for all of you my sweet blog friends. I hope you enjoy some lovely days with your near and dear ones!!
Take Care!

"Webster's Pages", New collection "Trendsetter"

I love it every month when my DT kit from Erica at Your Scrapbook Stash lands in my mailbox. I cant wait to open it and see the goodies I will play with for the month!
This month I got "Fancy Pants" "It's the Little Things" that  I have already shared here on the blog, and the new "Webster's Pages" called "Trendsetter".
When I first saw Trendsetter I was a bit uneasy. I thought; What can I do with this?... I really liked the look of the papers but didn't think they fitted my style. The design is much more restrained than the normally very ornate style of WP. They have a more "modern" feel if you know what I mean,..more funky...!
Still, I would not be who I am if I were to just give up....LOL

After some time I came up with this:

I cut out different elements from the papers.
The little cage and bird was cut out and glazed for shine and dimension. I even used pop dots to make them stand out more from the background.

The little frame with 'blabla' was the same.

My daughter Beatrice, in the pictures, loves to talk to her friends on the phone. She particularily likes to use my mobile both for talking and for playing little computer games. She finds it's a good way to pass the time when we are in the car.
The black alphabet is AC Thickers and the smaller letters are from the WP Trendsetter sticker sheet.
I love the look of those 'old school' telephones.

The black tulle flower I made from scratch using some twine. The green flower is from Prima Marketing.

I still have a lot more "Trendsetter" to use and now I am looking forward to it!!
Thanks for visiting!

Color Combos Galore 188 /Mature for your age.

The weeks just seem to change faster and faster, I don't know what happens with time. It certainly is a scarce resource around here! LOL!
Due to various reasons I could just make a quick one for CCG this week. I had a late start, -seems like I'm always saying that.... I was able to use my kit from Your Scrapbook Stash for this weeks challenge.

On the layouts for YSS this month we are supposed to use as little decorations as possible that we have not made ourselves from paper.I used the "Fancy Pants" collection  "It's the little things" for this page.

This is what I came up with:

And here is the Inspiration Board that Janet prepared for us this week!
Doesn't it look good?
The colours are so soave...

The designer challenge is to use embossing or stenciling to add a certain chunkyness.
I used a sheet of beautiful embossed cardstock. I even used cardboard with its great texture. I love that!
I also added twine along the edges of the layout with a chunky seam to mimic the rubber seams on the boots.
Janet also suggested we use black and white photos.

Some close ups:

My journaling says that Beatrice is mature for her age. She is good at doing her chores and she understands well what is expected of her. We waited a while before getting her the kitten because we wanted her to  be able to take more responsability for it. She is now very good at making sure Lady has got her food and water, and that the litter box is cleaned.

That's all for now folks.
If you scroll down you will see the layout I made for the current Once Upon A...Sketch challenge

Thanks for looking in!

Once Upon A...Sketch

Wohoo, Now it's time for my half of the designteam to get rolling!!

The first challenge was a massive success!
We received more than 100 entries from all over the world, which is amazing indeed!

This is what I have come up with for the challenge at Once Upon A...Sketch.

I used papers from my DT kit from Your Scrapbook Stash . The collection is "Fancy Pants" "The Little Things".
They are lovely and for those who loved Echo Park"For The Record" they are perfect.

And here you can see the great sketch that Nadia created for us:

It is really lovely and versatile.

I decided to turn it on the side to better accomodate my two photos.
Here you have a few close ups:

In the next picture those who understand Swedish can read my journaling.
It is about Beatrice and me enjoying a beautiful Spring day outside. We were planting and repotting and Beatrice was doing so well. She could do it all by herself.

In the little envelope I have included a little message from my daughter.

I did some paper pleating to add some texture. I even used red paint dabber and mist in the colour of Earl Gray. I scattered buttons across the little envelope from Maya Road, and glued them down. Of course I made sure that I can still open it!

If you go HERE you can see the new challenge that just went live!
Head on over and check it out.

Take care!

More "Pink Paislee" "Old School" - American Football.

I promised yesterday that I would share one more layout using Pink Paislee Old School.
I also posted it in the gallery at Your Scrapbook Stash.
This is another layou about my DD2 Victoria. During the last week of year nine at school they are allowed to do a lot of fun stuff because they are all done with exams and important obligations.

They are finding out a little more about American football as their PE teacher used to be on the Swedish National team. He used his contacts so they could borrow some suits and have some fun!!

One of the Pink Paislee papers had this shield on them as part of the decoration. I cut it out. Then I layered another pp over the hole and layered the shield on top of that. It makes a good base for my title. I also got som red sequin ribbon that I decided went well with the theme.(..?......how?)......Or maybe I just wanted to  use it...lol! I made a small layered rosette flower using paper from the collection and dies from Quickutz.

My DD is the one with her surname on the back of her pants. I was not there at the time so the pics were taken by some class mates and they don't use the same criterea as I do when it comes to photography.
Still, a picture from behind is better than no picture,..right...?  I am glad I got these!

Again I found the sticker sheet that I received from Erica at Your Scrapbook Stash very useful indeed.

If you scroll down you can see yesterdays post where I share another layout using Pink Paislee "Old School".

Thanks for dropping by. So nice to see you!

"Fancy Pants" " It's The Little things" - Mature for Your Age

This blog post has been temporarily removed because the layout will be pblished in Scrapbooking.com magazine.

"Pink Paislee" "Old School" 2 Cool 4 School.

Erica from Your Scrapbook Stash sent me papers from Pink paislee"Old School" to work with.
My initial reaction awas that these were colours that I would not normally work with but I liked the look of things so I was ready to give it a go!

I rummaged through my photos and found this one of Victoria taken on the first day of year nine.

I decided to keep it simple and use mostly paper even as embellishments. The stars, strip and yellow letter stickers are from the sticker sheet that comes with the collection. i used some Martha Stewart punches to make the borders.

This is a close up of the small rosette in the upper left corner.

The brown chipboard letters are Thickers.

This month you get 20 percent off everything you buy.
Make sure you use the code APRIL20 at checkout to get the discount. And there are lots of other great offers and so many more markdowns.
Hurry over and check it out!

Thanks for taking a look at my creations!
Tomorrow I have one more page made with this collection.
